The death toll from a Chinese cruise ship which capsized during a storm in the Yangtze river jumped to 396 on Saturday. The 76 meter long four-deck river passenger ship Eastern Star Dongfangzhixing capsized and sank on the Yangtze River in the Wuhan Damazhou area. On the night of 1 June 2015 the ship was traveling on the Yangtze River when it capsized during a thunderstorm in Jianli Hubei Province with 454 people on board.
Many of the more than 450 people on board the cruise ship were reported to be retirees taking in the Yangtzes scenic vistas.
